A vacancy exists for a progressive and dynamic Occupational Health and Safety Advisor to fill an integral role within the Saraji Mine, Health, Safety and Environment team. You will report to the Occupational Health and Safety Superintendent and have a lead role in effectively managing the safety performance of the mine. We are seeking a person who has a proven track record of delivering results in safety, continuous improvement strategies and working with personnel in creating a high performance culture that delivers superior results in all safety related areas.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organised individual who both thrives in an autonomous position but also enjoys working within a positive team environment.

The successful candidate must have:

Tertiary qualifications in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent relevant industry experience;
Minimum of 2 years occupational health and safety experience within either a mining or heavy industry environment;
Advanced computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
Well developed understanding of, and the ability to apply the intent of, the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and the corresponding Regulations
Previous experience in safety management and reporting systems
Substantial skill in performing incident investigations, identification and implementation of corrective and preventative controls
Genuine interest in preventative workplace health management including a high level of skill in the development and implementation of health promotion programs
In addition, you will require exceptional communication skills as you will regularly liaise with other BMA safety personnel , production supervisors, employees and various external service providers. You will display an unwavering commitment to achieving our ‘zero harm’ philosophy. Previous experience in mine rescue, heavy equipment operations or fixed processing plant operations will be highly regarded.
